Art of Living: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Israel Museum

Apr 4, 2006–Jul 30, 2006

The Contemporary Jewish Museum is proud to present Art of Living: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Israel Museum, an exhibition of dynamic and engaging photographs and video works produced by 20 contemporary Israeli artists from the permanent collections of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

about the exhibition

Represented in the exhibition are a selection of Israel's foremost contemporary photographers and artists. Extending beyond issues of politics and political identity, the selected works on view open new portals of understanding to Israeli cultural and artistic life. Art of Living: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Israel Museum presents approximately 40 works from the permanent collections of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, which organized the exhibition. Art of Living is curated by Nissan Perez, the Israel Museum's Horace and Grace Goldsmith Senior Curator in the Noel and Hariette Levine Department of Photography.

The works featured in Art of Living reflect the artists' unique perspectives on Israeli culture and society and provide an opportunity for Bay Area viewers to be exposed to issues facing modern-day Israelis from an artistic perspective.
